The World Bank has given a $20 million grant to Katsina State under the COVID-19 social intervention programme to support small and medium scale organisations (SMEs).
Speaking on the fund, Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Bello Masari on Social Interventions Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, told The Nation during an interview in his office in Katsina, that part of the requirements before the disbursement of the fund is for the recipient SMEs to have complete documentation of their work.
He added that 40 per cent of the fund will be for grant and the World Bank will pay the balance from when COVID-19 started till date.
Masari commended the improved evel of awareness among the people due to opportunities provided by the advent of Corona pandemic, which he described as a blessing in disguise.
He urged the people to embrace skill acquisition and training, with particular emphasis on entrepreneurship development, to expose themselves to better management of funds, record keeping and business opportunities.
