Train Attack: Abuja-Kaduna rail service to resume May 23

The Federal Government has authorized the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to resume train operations on the Abuja-Kaduna track.

Recall that the train service was suspended in March after an attack on the rail track by bandits.

The attack led to the death of eight persons, several people were left injured, while over 60 passengers were kidnapped.

Deputy Director of Public Relations of the NRC, Yakub Mahmood, announced the resumption in a statement.

The government also said the safe rescue of passengers kidnapped was a top priority.

They added that the resumption should not be perceived as abandonment or a nonchalant attitude of the government towards the plight of victims.
