The Nigerian government has evacuated another 180 Nigerians from Budapest, Hungary.
This is the third of Nigerian nationals fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Charter flights by Max Air and Air Peace had earlier brought in the stranded Nigerians, mostly students from Bucharest and Warsaw.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) announced the arrival of the third set with a tweet on Friday night.
“The third batch of Nigerians from #Ukraine arrived at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport Abuja at about 11:50 pm local time from Budapest, Hungary,” it tweeted.
Amb. Gabriel Aduda, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who announced the evacuation plans said the stranded Nigerians would be evacuated from Romania, Poland and Hungary, via Max Air and Air Peace flights.
According to him, 650 Nigerians registered with the embassy in Hungary: 350 in Poland: 940 in Romania and 150 in Slovakia.
“The capacity and routes of the airlines are as follow: Max Air to Romania 560 persons, Air Peace to Poland 365 persons and Air Peace to Hungary 360 persons”
Aduda did not indicate which of the two airlines will go to Slovakia.
