Amid an upsurge in COVID-19 infections as the second wave of the virus sweeps the country, some states have approved resumption of schools for pupils in their states.
Pupils in Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Sokoto states are expected back in the classrooms today. This is in spite of the Federal Government’s directive that all schools should remain closed till January 18 to monitor the spread of the new wave of COVID-19.
While the following states, Abia, Delta and Oyo have fixed January 11 as their resumption dates as announced by their respective Ministeries of Education.
States, such as Kogi, Kano and Plateau, have fixed January 18.
Some states are yet to announce their resumption dates. They include Lagos, Kaduna, Osun and FCT.
