Petroleum resources: CNG policy takes off in March

Installation of gas dispensing stations will soon begin within the premises of Members of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN).

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Timipre Sylva, dropped the hint at a meeting with the oil marketers.

He said the Federal Government plans to begin the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for fueling vehicles in March.

Sylva disclosed that there is an arrangement between the Federal Government and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to make their facilities available in partnership with the marketers.

According to him, the OEMs would install the gas dispensing stations and conversation kits in the marketers’ plants.

Speaking on the urgency of the programme, the minister said: “See how you can link up with some of these OEMs so that you will be part of this.

This programme is supposed to kick-start what we want to start in March. So, we don’t have too much time but we don’t want to go further without carrying you along.”
