Armed robbers on Thursday broke into the apartment of a Nigerian businessman in Paris, stealing some 800,000 euros ($865,000) worth of luxury bags, according to reports.
Channels TV reports that the burglary took place in an upscale building in the 16th district of the French capital on Wednesday morning, said sources with knowledge of the case.
It was gathered that the suspects who wore face mask rang the doorbell of the apartment and succeeded in entering and threatened the man with a handgun.
Although the robbers failed to make the unidentified Nigerian open his safe, they still got away with the bags and around 3,000 euros in cash.
This incident follows a train of recent robberies in the French capital, where rich individuals have been targeted by criminals looking for luxury items such as jewellery and watches.
