Omicron: Lagos govt to prosecute anyone flouting COVID-19 guidelines

The Lagos State Government has promised to penalize anyone found flouting the COVID-19 guidelines and travel protocols released by the Presidential Steering Committee.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this pronouncement on Tuesday, adding that his government, through the courts, will sue anyone found wanting.

According to a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, the government has partnered with the PSC to punish whosoever refused to undergo mandatory tests.

The statement which was titled, ‘Omicron: We’ll prosecute anyone flouting COVID-19 guidelines, travel protocols – Sanwo-Olu,’ listed punishments including blacklisting the passport of the offenders for one year.

Sanwo-Olu said, “All foreigners that flout the rules would be subjected to possible deportation. Therefore, I implore all intending inbound passengers to perform their required tests at any of the private laboratories within the Lagos State Private Laboratory Consortium as and when due.”
