The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund says it is working on a plan to ensure that applications from victims of work accidents who file for compensations or claims are processed and paid within ten days.
The agency said it already had a standard practice of responding timely to claims within 14 days.
It, however, noted that delays may occur due to a lack of prompt reports of cases of victims.
The NSITF said most times the people do not report incidents on time to the appropriate departments in the NSITF.
The Managing Director of NSITF, Dr. Michael Akabogu disclosed this during the 2022 NSITF-SERVICOM Stakeholder Forum in Abuja on Thursday.
He said: “Over the past year, most of the claims were paid before 14 days but now, we want to shorten the time frame to 10 days.”
Akabogu also announced plans for a fundamental restructuring of its service compact with the introduction of a toll-free 24-hour Call Centre to boost access and ginger prompt feedback from its numerous public.
The NSITF boss noted that as part of efforts to respond faster and offer effective service to subscribing employees, NSITF was establishing an electronic feedback system that will ensure that aggrieved subscribers file their complaints and get responses in real time.
