According to experts, for Nigeria to jump to the fourth industrial revolution in agriculture, she needs new technologies across the value chain to drive production, reduce food loss and waste.
They made this stance known at a sensitization event for the Agrofood and Plastprintpack exhibition and conference due to behold from March 22 to 24.
The German trade show specialist, Fairtrade Messe and Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA) are partnering to host this exhibition.
Sensitization in form of breakfast meetings attended by stakeholders, exhibitors and investors have been held in five states and Abuja.
The event will provide networking for international and local players to find solutions and share best practices for managing the complexities of the perishable food system and pharmaceutical supply chain.
Managing Director of Fairtrade Messe Paul Maerz said: “This year, more than ever, we’re expecting top-level decision-makers from the agro-food and plastprintpack industry from across the country and the region to discuss projects, ideas and business with exhibitors.
President of OTACCWA Alexander Isong said: “The partnership with Fairtrade is a synergy of purpose because preservation, transportation and storage go hand in hand with agro-food and packaging, especially in an environment, such as Nigeria with large post-harvest losses. Last year was a great success and we look forward to an even better collaboration this year.”
