A wrestling gold medal won by Mercy Genesis in the Women’s Freestyle 50 kg and after she defeated Canada’s Madison Parks increased Nigeria’s gold medal haul to eight to displace South Africa in the seventh spot on the medal table.
As of the time of filing this report, Nigeria has won nine gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals while South Africa is eighth on the table with seven gold, seven silver, and nine bronze medals.
Australia still occupies the top spot with 56 gold, 45 silver, and 46 bronze medals, while host England is second with 48 gold, 47 silver, and 43 bronze medals.
The tournament ends on Monday, August 8 with the closing ceremony at the Alexander Stadium.
