Monarch seeks Sanwo-Olu’s help over territory invasion

Oba Lukman Adebambo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi, has called on Lagos State Government, the Commissioner of Police and the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, to intervene and prevent further breakdown of law and order in his domain.

Oba Adebambo was reported to have engaged in a brawl with some masqueraders during an annual festival that featured a masquerade called Jigbo in Ibeju.

The clash resulted in pandemonium as policemen invited from the Elemoro Area Command and Akodo Division stormed the community, firing teargas and gunshots to contain the situation.

Speaking with our correspondent, Oba Adebambo said since he sensed that a crisis was brewing, he decided to petition the state and local governments and police.

He said he even sponsored a paid announcement on radio to avert the crisis.

The monarch said the masqueraders were not from his domain, hence their coming into Araromi was to foment trouble.

The monarch described their defiance to his instruction as an affront, saying that no community leader would watch as people from other communities trampled upon his domain.

“That’s why I faced those masqueraders and told them to leave my community. Instead of them leaving, they started causing a crisis by attacking me, my secretary and residents. They destroyed my hotel and our community statue. It took the intervention of the police to calm the situation,” he said.
