Various government agencies have shunned the invitation from the House of Representatives Committee on Finance in preparation for the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP).
The agencies were supposed to appear before the committee regarding the 2023 budget.
Moreover, those that appeared before the committee for an interactive session came with half-baked reports, forcing the committee to send them back to go and repackage their report and reappear on another day.
The failure of the agencies to appear may cause a serious setback in the preparation of the template for the 2023 budget.
Agencies that have failed to appear before the Committee include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The committee directed that the governor of the bank or a deputy governor must appear.
Others that have failed to appear to include Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Police Trust Fund and Nigeria College of Aviation Technology, NNPC Limited, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, Oil and Gas Free Zone, Federal Ministry of Power, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading, Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board, Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Nigeria Electricity Management Services Agency, Transmission Company of Nigeria, Galaxy Backbone PLC, Nigerian Electricity Liability Management Company, Nigeria Export-Import Bank, Nigeria Port Authority and Nigeria Shippers Council.
The Federal Ministry of Justice, Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry, Assets Management Company of Nigeria, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarders of Nigeria, National Automotive Design and Development Council and National Examination Council also failed to appear.
