Manager of demolished Rivers hotel tests positive for COVID-19

River State has recorded 27 new cases of Covid-19, notably including the manager of the demolished Prodest Hotel, Eleme, Government has confirmed.

This is according to Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim who said the development justifies the Government’s measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

His words,, “Prodest Hotel was demolished two weeks ago because the owners violated Executive Order 7 which banned the operation of hotels.

“The COVID-19 Taskforce members from the Local Government who went to enforce the Executive Order were brutalized and dehumanised leading to the death of one of them.”

Recall that Governor Nyesom Wike had said he demolished two hotels in Eleme Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers state and placed N5 million bounty on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader in the area for alleged breach of Covid-19 orders and “deadly attack” on a Task Force officer.
