Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) Razak Balogun has said the government cannot secure the state without partnership with the residents of the state.
Balogun who stated this while addressed reporters in his office, said: “We pledge to continue to support Lagosians to ensure a very robust security network. We must try, as much as possible, to inculcate good habits, especially of assisting our security agencies because without them we will not be safe. It is only in this part of the world that we refuse policemen from using our toilets.
“I also call on corporations and individuals to continue to donate to this trust fund because without the donations, there is nothing we can do to secure the state.”
On the agitations for state police, Balogun stressed that it was long overdue, citing models of developed climes where even the position of Inspector General of Police (IG) is elective rather than selective. ‘This gives the individual the independence required to do the job effectively’ he noted.
