The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) successfully nabbed a trailer driver involved in a hit-and-run accident, on Monday, at Anthony Oke inward Oshodi area of the state.
Checkout Magazine learnt from a statement released by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, that the officials swiftly chased and apprehended the trailer driver who had struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the expressway near the Total Filling Station at Anthony Oke, inward Oshodi.
The driver, who tried to flee the scene, was subsequently handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution.
“The driver, operating a trailer owned by Honeywell Flour Mill Plc (registration number JJJ 764 XV), was apprehended after hitting a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the expressway near the Total Filling Station at Anthony Oke, inward Oshodi.
“LASTMA officials on duty at the time responded swiftly, pursuing the fleeing driver and apprehending him at Oshodi. He has since been handed over to officers from Mosafejo Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.
It was also gathered that the Lagos State Ambulance Service LASAMBUS personnel swiftly attended to the scene, providing emergency care and transportation to the pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries, including a broken leg. The injured individual was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
“The pedestrian, who sustained a serious injury, including a broken left leg, was promptly attended to by personnel from the Lagos State Ambulance Service and transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
In the statement, Adebayo further emphasised LASTMA’s unwavering dedication to guaranteeing the safety and security of all road users in Lagos. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to working in tandem with law enforcement agencies to prosecute traffic offenders.
