The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has appealed to political parties to adhere to guidelines on the use of campaign materials ahead of the 2023 polls.
The agency said in line with its enabling law, it would work with political parties to control and regulate advert displays in ensuring they enjoy visibility.
It also noted that it would not condone impunity and disregard for guidelines in the deployment of campaign materials, saying LASAA would remove materials violating these guidelines.
LASAA’s Managing Director, Mr. Adedamola Docemo, in a statement, said guidelines in line with the agency’s responsibilities on the use of billboards and others to establish sanity and protect the environment must be adhered to.
Docomo noted that the guidelines were issued without prejudice to any party, association, or aspirant, stressing “we intend to ensure fairness and equality among stakeholders while performing our duties and applying the rules …”
Reiterating its readiness to assist and cooperate with parties in ensuring hitch-free political participation, LASAA warned that impunity and lawlessness would not be tolerated.
It warned that Illegally displayed and non-conforming campaign materials would be removed, reminding individuals, groups, and organizations that all advertising materials must be removed after the elections.
