The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat has called on religious leaders to harp their sermons on the importance of personal responsibility and family values.
He said this would help tackle the myriads of problems facing the country.
Hamzat spoke during the opening of the Quranic Central Mosque and turning of former Naval Chief of Staff, Admiral Jubril Ayinla (rtd), and his wife, Alhaja Jemilah, as Baba Adinni and Amiratul Mumineen of Quranic Muslim Community.
He emphasized that lack of personal responsibility was becoming an issue in the country, and needed to be addressed if the country is to move forward.
Hamzat said: “A lot of people say the problem of Nigeria is leadership. Well, I want to say it is not 100 percent correct in my view. The problem is that the family has broken up and there is a lack of personal responsibility in the country. Many people have left their responsibilities unattended to, and this is having negative effects on the society and country at large.”
The deputy governor urged Nigerians to take personal responsibility very important and play their roles effectively and efficiently, adding that leadership starts from the home which is the bedrock of any developed society.
