The Lagos State Government has opened a Rapid Response Register (RRR) for all urban poor, low or daily income earners and the vulnerable population, whose source of income has been shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director of Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASOCU), Mrs. Adijat Adedeji announced this in a statement yesterday, saying the register, which opened at the weekend, would close on Wednesday.
LASOCU, which was established under the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB), is coordinating the register for the National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO), to give relief to people whose source of income has been eroded by the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.
Her words: “This is calling on all barbers, electricians, vulcanisers, traders and anyone whose source of income has been destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic to come out and enlist in the RRR register. ”
The register is an intervention by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (MHADMSD), to help alleviate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the vulnerable groups in urban and semi-urban dwellers.”
