The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) got a N1 billion boost yesterday from billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.
Otedola made the presentation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He was represented by his daughter, Olawunmi.
He described LSSTF as effective in the discharge of its duties, remaining relevant to the state’s security architecture.
“This is why I have committed to another donation of N1 billion to the fund to ensure continuity of its critical work,” the business mogul said.
Otedola thanked the LSSTF personnel for their dedication, and the Fund for enabling them. He also urged the government to keep up the good work, saying “I believe in what you are doing.”
The philanthropist said: “Lagos is one of the states where people move around freely without worry, even in the dead of night. We especially thank God there was no security breach during the Yuletide.
“While saying thank you to the gallant men and women who make this possible, we should also recognise the role of the LSSTF in enabling them to do so. When well-meaning Lagosians contribute to this type of effort, Lagos will be safer and we will all be more prosperous.
“I, therefore, encourage all residents, especially the corporate Lagos, to reflect on the significance of donating to the Fund and make a decision to contribute regardless of size because every donation has the power to create ripples of change.
“The government should also continue its culture of transparency and judicious use of resources because we believe in it.”
