First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu has commissioned Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Week in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The 2020 MNCAH Week, which will hold between October 5 and 9 intends to remind Lagos residents to take good care of their health and publicising the free health services available to the vulnerable.
The event will be held simultaneously across Primary Health Care (PHC) clinics and designated areas in Lagos State.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu discouraged the patronage of quack health officials, as well as traditional birth attendants.
Instead, she encouraged the patronage of established government health facilities.
“It is sad to note that a lot of our expectant mothers still patronise quacks who claim to be traditional birth attendants, while illegally practising orthodox medicine. These quacks do nothing but to add sorrow to our people by killing their newborns, pregnant teenage girls, under-five children and even expectant mothers who patronise them for treatment, delivery and illegal termination of pregnancies.”
To the residents of the council, Mrs. Sanwo-Olu said cases have been made to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in order to repair some of the bad roads and make movement easier for the people.
