The Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has said the state will conduct a census of children whose parents were killed by the armed bandits across the state.
The Governor who made the above disclosure when he received the leadership of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, led by its Commandant-Genera, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun on courtesy visit, said a committee has already been set up to carry out the assignment.
He said, “The result of the exercise would enable the state government to design suitable assistance to these affected children.”
He added that, “Living such children unattended could lead to another thing; peace can only be restored in the state if same approach is adopted in Zamfara, where mainly the leadership of bandits resides.”
While appreciating the leadership of the vigilante group for its resolve to join hands with government in the fight against bandits, Masari urged them, particularly those from the border areas of the state, to be more vigilant and report to the nearest authority, any untoward activities and importation of prohibited goods, especially arms and ammunitions and drugs, into the country.
