The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin has restated the government’s commitment to the protection of lives and property of citizens of the state.
Ogundoyin gave the assurance on Twitter after he accompanied Governor Seyi Makinde on a visit to the Ibarapa Area which has been plagued by the activities of criminal herdsmen.
The Speaker who shared pictures from the visit said that there’s an ongoing deliberation on stemming the tide of kidnappings, killings, banditry, armed robbery, rape and destruction of farmlands by herders in Ibarapaland.
He wrote, “The people called on the Governor to provide more logistics support for Amotekun corps, local hunters, vigilance groups, OPC to enable them to work effectively with the Police, Civil Defence Corps, Soldiers and others to motivate and ensure community policing is more effective.
“Affected families, communities and areas will be visited and prompt actions shall be taken with immediate effect. Our people’s lives matter and their hard-earned fortune, properties shall be protected too against any form of theft.”
Meanwhile, Governor Makinde, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, showed concern for the situation faced by the people of Ibarapa.
He said, “I feel the pain and I believe that with everybody coming together, we will be able to tackle the problem.
