Unknown Gunmen have kidnapped a top official of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engineer Kingsley Okorafor.
He was abducted near his home at Umuadara Umulogho Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo.
The incident which happened in the early hours of Saturday caused serious panic in the community.
The incident occurred about three kilometers away from a military checkpoint in the area.
A family source who pleaded anonymity said that the victim attended a vigil of the traditional ruler of Ndihu Autonomous Community in Obowo LGA, the late Eze Innocent Anyawu on Friday night.
He was trailed after he left the vigil for his community where he was abducted, while his car was left behind.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the abductors have established contacts with his family, and are demanding N10 million as ransom though none of his family members could confirm it when contacted.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO,) CSP Mike Abattam confirmed the incident to The Nation. “It is true and we are on top of the matter.”
