FG hails Apapa customs over N366bn revenue feat

The Federal Government has commended the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for achieving a revenue sum of N366 billion within six months in 2021.

The Chairman of Customs Revenue Monitoring Committee of RMAFC, Dr. Adekunle Wright applauded them during an official visit to the command in Lagos on Tuesday.

The controller of the command, Comptroller Yusuf Malanta during a press briefing that coincided with the visit said the figure represents 61 percent increase compared to the N227billion recorded in the first half of 2020.

Wright said: “With this level of statistics that the Comptroller has readout, you can see that we have hope, now that the prices of crude oil is going down, this is our own oil, and we thank him for the brilliant performance that he has continued to bring up.

“We are on a working tour and we have met these records that have spoken for itself that this is the Flagship of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Comptroller is really doing very well here. We are happy to be associated with him,” he added.

Giving a breakdown of the all-time revenue generated, Malanta said the Command also generated revenue of N78.4 billion in the month of Jun, which indicates a significant increase of over 90 percent compared to the N42.4 billion collected in the month under review.
