Elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark has hinted that Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Middle-Belt Forum and Afenifere may henceforth, shun any dialogue convened by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Clark who is a one-time Information Minister was reacting to Obasanjo’s remarks on crude oil discovery in the Niger Delta.
He said the groups will take a critical look at any invitation to attend future state-of-the dialogue, especially those conveyed by the former president.
According to Clark, Obasanjo’s comment was ‘unstatesmanlike’ and smacked of hatred against the people of the oil-rich region.
Recall that Obasanjo had professed at an event organised by the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) that the oil in the Niger Delta was deposited by God and therefore belonged to all Nigerians.
But Clark had written an open letter to Obasanjo, cautioning that the position canvassed by the former President could trigger unrest in the region.
