Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji froze all operational accounts of the state government with immediate effect a few hours after taking the oath of office yesterday.
Oyebanji said all financial officers in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) must comply with the directive on the freezing of the accounts.
The governor issued the directive through a press statement by his newly appointed chief press secretary, Yinka Oyebode, on Sunday.
“All accounting officers and financial institutions are urged to comply with this directive,” the statement added.
The full details of the directive were not known as of press time.
In his inaugural speech, Oyebanji promised to run an all-inclusive government that would be just, equitable and fair to all, irrespective of religious and political inclinations.
The governor said his administration would focus on human capital development, good governance, agriculture and rural development, Arts, Culture and Tourism, infrastructure, and industrialization to transform the state into a microcosm of development.
