The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said it confiscated jewellery estimated at N14 billion from former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke.
EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who announced this yesterday said houses valued at $80 million were seized.
Bawa told the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Assessment and Status of All Recovered Loots Movable and Immovable Assets from 2002 to 2020 by Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria for Effective Efficient Management and Utilisation that the jewellery remained in the custody of EFCC awaiting auction.
He attributed the delay in auctioning the loot to court processes, procedures and administrative exigencies.
He dismissed speculations that the loot seized by the agency were being stolen.
