A chieftain of the All Progressive Party, Hon. Musa Azara has maintained that the recent invitation of the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) would not deter his ambition of becoming the next national chairman of the ruling party.
Azara spoke yesterday in Lafia during a briefing with newsmen on the alleged invitation of the former Governor by the EFCC. He explained that Al-Makura who now represent Nasarawa south senatorial district at the upper chamber of the national assembly remains the best Governor among all the governor’s that has govern the state so far, noting that he ran the most transparent and accountable administration in the state.
He commended the incumbent Governor of the State, Engr Abdullahi Sule for building on the solid foundation laid by Al-Makura. Azara added that the former Governor has a clean clear bill as far as his tenure as the Governor of Nasarawa State is concerned. He said that prior to his assumption of office as Governor of the State in 2011, Nasarawa State was a glorified village
“If you see any good road, streets, school, hospital in Nasarawa State today, it is built by Al-Makura, he opens up the state for us and we will continue to be ever greatful to him for the developmental strides he brought to the state,” he said. He added that Al-Makura left clean records as Governor of the State, noting that those trying to frustrate his bid to be the next APC national chairman using EFCC are enemies who do not mean well for the party, and will not succeed.
“If APC is looking for an accountable and transparent chairman, I think Al-Makura is the person, if APC is looking for a peace and bridge builder, I think Al-Makura remain the only option to go with” he said.
