COVID-19 patient, 37, gives birth at LUTH

A Coronavirus patient presently admitted at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba has been delivered of a baby boy, authorities said.

The birth was announced in a Press Statement issued by the hospital’s authorities on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the COVID-19 patient was delivered of the baby boy on Saturday.

The statement read, “A team of LUTH doctors, anaesthetists and nurses delivered another woman diagnosed with COVID-19 of a baby boy (Birth weight: 2.6kg).

“The 37-year-old mother was delivered of the baby via a caesarean section on Saturday, May 9.

“The mother and baby are doing well.

This birth is coming in the midst of increasing cases of coronavirus in Lagos.

Recall that LUTH had on April 27, successfully delivered a 40-year-old COVID-19 patient of a baby girl.
