Global alerts have been triggered as some European and Asian countries record more cases of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has allayed the fears of citizens by saying the latest strain has not been discovered in the country.
Nevertheless, the NCDC urged Nigerians to continually adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
The organization also added that it is in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health to monitor emerging evidence on the new variant and its implications.
The nations where the more contagious virus, first identified in South Africa, is battling to contain its spread are The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Israel, Hong Kong, Denmark, and Australia.
Other countries, including the United Kingdom (UK), United States (U.S.), Israeli, Brazil, Indonesia, among others are scrambling to ensure that they did not record any case of Omicron.
