President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Mr. Muazu Jaji Sambo from Taraba State as a minister and urged the senate to proceed with the screening.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari’s letter during plenary.
Buhari urged the Senate to begin screening in earnest and confirm the nominee for appointment.
He explained in the letter that the request was made in accordance with Section 147(2) of the Constitution (as amended).
President Buhari also nominated six national commissioners and a Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The national commissioner-nominees are: Malam Mohammed Haruna – Niger State; Mrs. May Agbamuche Mbu – Delta; Okeagu Kenneth Nnamdi – Abia; Maj.-Gen. A. B. Alkali (retd.) – Adamawa; Prof. Rada H. Gumus – Bayelsa; and Mr. Sam Olumeku – Ondo. Mr. Olaniyi Olaleye Ijalaye from Ondo State is the REC-nominee.
