Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has received a presidential directive to draw up a memorandum to the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on how to link the Lekki Deep Sea Port with the railway network.
President Muhammadu Buhari gave the directive yesterday after inspecting the deep seaport project in Lagos State.
The President had inspected the rate of work done at the first Deep Sea Port in Nigeria, located within the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) in Lagos.
He received firm assurances that the port, which has a concession period of 45 years and sits on a 90-hectare land, would be completed on schedule by September.
He expressed delight with the high level of work that has been done at the port, which is projected to create about 170,000 jobs when completed.
He was accompanied by All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and presidential aspirant Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Amaechi, the Minister of Information, Lai Muhammed, some governors, Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr Bashir Jamoh, the Managing Director, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and other officials.
