President Muhammadu Buhari wants to ensure that 2,000 digital infrastructure projects are commissioned across the country by the end of the year, the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami, has said.
He said 1,667 of the projects had been delivered in the six geo-political zones of the country.
The minister, who spoke at the weekend at the Digital Economy Complex in Mbora, Abuja, said the projects, which are in all sectors of the economy, would increase productivity, create more jobs and boost revenue generation for the government.
The minister said the inauguration of seven new projects of Batch 11 at Mbora was meant to showcase the digital economy projects of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as the ones being inaugurated were not up to five per cent of the entire projects.
The minister performed the inauguration, virtually, on behalf of President Buhari.
Pantami said the seven projects were parts of the relevant pillars of the National Digital Economy Policy Strategy (NDEPS) of the government, adding that 12 Digital Economy policies had been implemented and four others were awaiting approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
