Buhari, Jonathan, Atiku, others land Kano for President’s son’s wedding

Eminent Nigerians gathered in Kano on Friday for the wedding (Fatiha) between President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, and Zahra, daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Nasiru Ado Bayero.

The Kano-Katsina-Niger federal road was shut down as the audience overwhelmed the venue. Security was very tight, The Nation reports.

The list of distinguished guests included President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Niger President Mahamadou Isoufou, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Ahmed Lawan and House of Reps Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa.

Also in attendance were about 12 governors from both All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Among the governors were those of Kano State Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Gombe State Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Cross River State Benedict Ayade, Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto, Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and John Olukayode Fayemi of Ekiti State.

The governors of Adamawa, Enugu, Bayelsa and Bauchi states were also in attendance. There were many ministers, including the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo.
