Azman Air on Saturday terminated the contract of 10 workers, including six pilots, Checkout Magazine learnt.
According to Punch, the termination of appointment happened because six pilots, one cabin crew member, and three ground staff complained in a WhatsApp group over the delay in their October salaries.
Checkout Magazine also learnt that the letter of termination did not indicate the reason why they were fired, however, a source told Punch, “In the morning of November 6, people started complaining. Workers started giving suggestions and everyone wasn’t really happy with the situation because everyone could see that the airline was making money.
“We fly the airline and we know roughly how many passengers we carry and how many are on every flight to break even. After COVID-19, the passenger figure was very good because it was like people were waiting to start flying.”
Confirming the incident, the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers’ President, Abednego Galadinma, said, “I just got the information, and we are going to respond appropriately. I can confirm to you that something like that happened and Azman did not follow the due process.”
Responding to enquires about the decision, the founder, Azman Air, Dr. Abdulmunaf Yunusa, simply said, “Yes, because of the niche of the works for COVID-19.”
