Presidential jets: Abiodun consults FG as Utomi tackles Amosun

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reached out to the Federal Government in a move to resolve the dispute with the Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. over the controversial Ogun Free Trade Zone.

Abiodun reportedly consulted top federal officials on Thursday, as a professor of Political Economy, Pat Utomi, accused former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, of revoking his property deal with the state government.

Multiple Ogun State officials, who confirmed the development on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak on the matter, said Abiodun went to Abuja last Thursday to engage the Federal Government officials over the seizure of the presidential jets.

“The governor went to Abuja on Thursday over the matter. Ogun is at the forefront of ensuring this matter is resolved as soon as possible,” one of the top officials close to the development said.

The move by Abiodun to resolve the Ogun FTZ debacle came to light as Utomi and Amosun clashed over a revoked property deal.

Utomi had in several posts on X.com on Saturday said he was also a victim of the decision of Amosun to cancel contracts signed by his predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

He narrated how he suffered to pay back millions of naira in loans after Amosun allegedly cancelled a contract he had with the state government.

Utomi was reacting to Amosun’s admission that a contract he cancelled while he was Ogun governor led to the seizure of three presidential jets in Europe on a court order.

The Chinese firm, Zhongfu International Investment FXE, recently secured a French court order to seize the jets over its business dispute with the Ogun government.
