PDP governors congratulate Adeleke on electoral victory

Governors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have congratulated Osun State Governor-elect Ademola Adeleke on his victory in Saturday’s election.

Former Senate Presidents David Mark and Bukola Saraki, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), and erstwhile Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye all sent their felicitations.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Atiku said: “I have always had affection for the people of Osun for obvious reasons. Yes, my wife hails from there, but if you have to walk a difficult path and you need men and women of courage and astute valor, the people of Osun will never be a disappointment.”

In a statement yesterday in Abuja by his media aide, Paul Mumeh, Senator Mark said Adeleke’s victory testified to PDP’s acceptance by the people of Osun State.

Addressing reporters at the home of Adeleke in Ede, Osun State, after the announcement of the winner, Saraki said: “Nigerians are ready to go back to the good old days of PDP. They have spoken loud and clear with their vote.”

While greeting the winner and saluting the people of Osun State, Governor Ortom said: “On behalf of myself, the government, and the PDP family in Benue State, I congratulate Senator Adeleke on his election as the governor-elect of Osun State. I am convinced that you will provide enduring leadership for the people in appreciation of the massive support they have given you by your election.”

Governor Makinde in a statement yesterday in Ibadan, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, said: “The power of the people will continue to triumph. The earlier politicians realized this fact, the better for our democracy.”

In a statement in Abuja, Melaye said: “The victory of our party in Osun State is an indication of the confidence of ordinary Nigerians in the ability of PDP to change the narrative and deliver good governance to all.”
