Hushpuppi: Court to decide jail term on Valentine’s Day

Social media influencer Ramon Abbas Olorunwa (aka Hushpuppi) will, on February 14 be sentenced by a United States court for allegedly laundering $24 million.

Documents revealed in July 2021 implied that Hushpuppi could face up to 20 years in prison, and will need to “pay full restitution to the victim(s).”

According to the online medium Newsroom, Hushpuppi’s fate will be decided on Valentine’s Day, after almost two years in detention in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates and Los Angeles in the United States.

On April 20, 2021, he pleaded guilty and, according to Newsroom, the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed the date in an email on Tuesday, January 25, this year.

Hushpuppi who is 37 years old, is known for posting photos of his lavish lifestyle on Instagram, where he has 2.5 million followers.

The court documents filed in California said Hushpuppi’s crimes cost victims almost $24 million in total.

Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai, where he lived, in June 2020.
