Data analytics firm gets $100,000 funding

Nigerian-owned firm, Dataphyte, has raised $100,000 in seed funding to help it carry forward its work of using data to create digital products.

The datasheet is a media, research, and data analytics startup that was launched in 2020, in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The seed fund was provided by the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), which invests in independent media around the world.

Since its inception in 2020, Dataphyte has built three thriving products while also supporting the media ecosystem with open data and capacity development.

According to a statement by the founder, John Olufemi, the company has launched other products besides its first platform.

“Besides building the first data journalism niche platform, the company recently launched Dataplex, its enterprise data merchandise platforms, and its training academy platform.”

He added that the organization “leads the pack in data innovation, telling relatable stories and providing analysis and intelligence from otherwise intractable data.”
