Masari lauds FG’s Anchor Borrowers scheme on rice farming

Governor Aminu Bello Masari has applauded the Anchor Borrowers programme introduced by the President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government’s especially in Katsina, Kebbi, Kano and many other parts of Nigeria, which has resulted in increased local production of rice and other grains.

Masari who expressed his approval of the Federal Government’s scheme when he received the leadership of Katsina State chapter of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria-RIFAN, led by its chairman, Alhaji Sha’aibu Wakili during a courtesy call at Government House, Katsina, submitted that President Muhammad Buhari’s administration has so far given agriculture the priority attention it deserves.

He said, “Nigerians should thank Allah for the wisdom of President Muhammad Buhari for giving agriculture top priority,” adding that “During the difficult days and times of COVID-19, even if one has the money to buy the products, it could not be found by the buyers.”

While responding to the request made by the RIFAN Chairman, the governor asked the association to employ a consultant to advise them properly on how to execute their proposed Sabke Dam irrigation project He expressed hope that the Federal Ministry of Water Resources would collaborate with RIFAN to prevent the farmers from incurring losses after obtaining loan to produce rice at Sabke dam.

Earlier the state chairman of RIFAN, Alhaji Sha’aibu Wakili told Governor Aminu Bello Masari that they were at Government House to intimate him on a special programme for Rice production at Sabke dam.
