Results from the first set of United Kingdom’s coronavirus vaccination trial will be published at the start of next week, according to reports.

The Lancet medical journal on Wednesday announced that early-stage data on the vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University will be published on July 20.

Checkout Magazine learnt that the first phase of results will show whether it is safe and whether or not it induces an immune response against Covid-19.

“We expect this paper, which is undergoing final editing and preparation, to be published on Monday, July 20, for immediate release,” a spokeswoman for the journal said.

Developers of the vaccine, known as known as AZD1222, said earlier this month they were encouraged by the immune response they had seen in trials so far.

More than 100 vaccines are being developed and tested around the world in a bid to end the pandemic which has killed hundreds of thousands and ravaged the global economy.

The World Health Organisation’s chief scientist said in June that AstraZeneca’s AZD1222 was probably the most advanced vaccine candidate in terms of development.
