Speaking during a seminar to launch 3D printing technology, Managing Director of FIYOM Technology, Yomi Fowode, said the events, was to create awareness, sensitise people and government on the application of 3D printing.

According to him, several manufacturing industries have adopted 3D printing in developed countries due to its efficiency.

Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Akeem Fahm said the state was looking at 3D technology from the perspective of economy and also to boost manufacturing capabilities.

“If we look at what we have today, most of the manufacturing parts that we use in Nigeria are imported from other countries. We are trying as much as possible to promote locally grown products. So, this will really come in handy because once you have the specification of the product, you can use the device to build the actual product you are going to integrate into production.”

Fahm’s counterpart in Ogun State, Prof. Abayomi Arigbagbu, said the 3D printing technology innovation was timely in filling the gap created in the printing sector. “With the introduction of this technology, I know the hurdles and problems we are having in the past would be resolved,” he said
