UK’s Masters Graduate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Mustapha Bashir, Returns Home to Farming

Mustapha Bashir is a patriotic and ambitious young Nigerian. He is among the many Nigerians who are striving hard to make an outstanding difference back home. He travelled to the UK for academic reasons and he's at the moment on his way back to Nigeria to start his own business. CheckOut met Mr Bashir in London. Speaking with him was an exposure to the resilient Nigerian spirit of quest. Below are excerpts of our interview with the visionary and resilient young man:

CO : Good evening. Can you please tell us about yourself and your background?

MUSTAFA : My name is Mustafa Bashir. I am a Nigerian from Kano State and a product of the unique circumstances of our gifted country. I am a graduate of Business Administration from the University of Abuja. After completing my Bachelor of Science degree course, I did my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), where I had my service experience at Pipeline and Product Marketing Company (PPMC). My PPMC experience was interesting but not consistent with my ambition. So after my NYSC I went into the business of leather production. This gave me an in-road into the agricultural sector. I enjoyed doing my own business. Producing leather for sale was profitable to me but I had this burning desire to deepen my entrepreneurship knowhow, so I embraced the idea of travelling abroad to acquire a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Essex in the UK.

CO : Why a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation?

MUSTAFA : It has always been my desire to succeed in business. Nigeria’s agricultural sector is still largely a virgin area of commerce by modern standards. Therefore, to be able to get the best out of it, I thought it appropriate to equip myself with what is capable of making me establish myself in a very unique way in the sector. Creativity in business is vital to success. One had to be innovative; I felt, to be able to be outstanding.. So I opted for a course in Entrepreneurship and Innovation to help myself achieve my goal in a very unique way.
